Every year Indonesia also have their own Car Show, called Indonesia International Motor Show. And this year, we see quite a lot of new car. Here's the recap of some of those cars.
Because there's quite a lot of them, i'll divide this into two-part special. Next part will be up at 28 september, hopefully. Now let's see the cars!
Alfa Romeo 4C and Giuletta
The 4C and Giuletta is one of the first car introduced by Alfa Romeo in Indonesia, after a quitting Indonesian market very long while ago. While they don't want to tell me how much the 4C was, they did tell me that the Giuletta is going to cost 41k USD here in Indonesia for the base model with 1.7l, 170hp engine. Nice, i might get one of those Giuletta.
BMW i8
Finally i got a chance to see the i8 in real life, and it looks better than i thought. I'm more into Mercedes man, but the i8 looks really futuristic. I love it. The i8 will cost about 306k USD when it hit the shelves later this year.
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
The Corvette in this show serves only as a show car, to get people interested to visit Chevrolet booth, so it's not for sale. That's a shame, i know few of us will love some american V8 with extra dose of freedom.
Dacia Duster 4x4.
Great News! Finally Renault Indonesia Introduce the brand new Dacia Duster for Indonesian Market. There's no Sandero on sight tough, which is a shame. The Duster cost a massive 26kUSD here in Indonesia, despite it comes with a tiny 1.5l 3 cylinder diesel. But the good news it'll do at least 60mpg. Damn Import Tax Sucks.
Daihatsu CUV-2
The CUV-2 was a Daihatsu's new concept of small crossover to compete with Nissan Juke and Ford Ecosport. The engine was a small 1.5l inline 4, andgood for at least 100hp. There's no info that daihatsu will produce this thing, i think it looks pretty good.
Daihatsu UFC-3
The UFC-3 was a concept of 7-seater minivan, although essentially it's a stretched hatchback like VW Golf Estate. Based on the Daihatsu Sirion, the UFC-3 was designed to compete with other 7-seaters hatchback like Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. The UFC-3 will go into production if the demand ws high.
Daihatsu Copen
Wooohoooo the Copen is back for Indonesia Domestic Market! The Copen was a small kei roadster pretending to be a real two seater sportscar. The engine was a small 660cc three cylinder producing 63hp. The problem is, the Copen cost 30k USD, and i'm sorry but i rather get real car like Fiesta ST. Sorry Daihatsu.
Datsun Go Panca
Datsun, once famous for the 240z, now it's reduced to selling cheap, low cost mini hatchback. But the upside is, this car only cost 7000USD for the base model. It's a good start really, and i hope one day they made a modern day Fairlady.
Honda HRV
The HRV is basically a small SUV based on the Honda Fit. The HRV comes in etither 1.5 and 1.8l engine here in Indonesia, and going to cost you start from 20k USD for a base-model with 1.5l engine. I have to say i don't really like the styling, but that paint looks very cool.
Mazda 2
The Mazda 2 has been grown up. The old model was a cheap, frugal, sensible city roundabouts. Now though, it's more aggresive with more stuff inside. The engine now has 1.5l Inline-4 SKYACTIV, good for 110hp. The Mazda 2 will cost about 20k USD, and you can already pre-order now at the show. Nice, altough i prefer the older model.
Mitsubishi Delica D:5
Oh man, if i have kids and wife i'll bought this. Come on, it's lifted Minivan with AWD and 2.4 Turbodiesel engine with 170hp and 380lb-ft of torque. What could possibly gone wrong? Plus it's only 35k USD. It's magnificent.
Suzuki Hustler
Heck yeah, it's a kei SUV! It looks like the FJ Cruiser's kid. But really, the car is small. The engine is also small, a tiny 660cc inline-3 producing 63hp. But so is the price, the Hustler will go on sale next year for a mere 15k USD.
Suzuki Karimun Wagon R GS Stingray
Suzuki Karimun Wagon R GS Stingray. What a long name for such a small car. It's a top of the line Wagon R in Indonesia, and it cost you about 9500 USD. It's a cheap car for you to move about cheaply.
Suzuki APV Luxury
The APV was a tall fwd minivan which serves as one of their halo car, alonsgside the Swift Sport. The car itself was very spacious and very comfortable, considering the price, which is 19k USD. Nice looking car.
Toyota FT-1
Silver FT-1 is really cool, that's all. I hope that thing gone to production.
